3D printing with nylon

Printing with nylon can be very tricky so I did a lot of research before trying it. All the same my first attempt at the white servo arm failed to stick to the print bed.

The second attempt worked and now it's time to print the blue (PLA prototype) mount in nylon.

Being able to print with nylon opens up so many opportunities to print strong durable parts with confidence.

First Day Out Since Coronavirus Measures

Last year my trainer made it's final and unplanned vertical landing 😲. That shortened it considerably and what could be saved was consigned to the spares store. I'd flown it for 16 and as I always like to have a trainer to play with I sought a replacement, which courtesy of a seller on Ebay I bought one. This involved a trip to Blackburn on 31st May 2020; our first journey anywhere since the coronavirus measured were introduced.

As this wasn't very intersting for my wife we coupled it with a visit to Ribchester on the way there and Whitewell on the way back.

At Ribchester we went for a walk in the countryside and had a picnic on a hill overlooking the River Ribble. We made our way back to Ribchester alongside the River Ribble and on the banks we were lots of people enjoing the sun.

After the visit to Ribchester, we made our way to Blackburn to pick up the model aeroplane (more on that in other posts).

Whitewell was a very nice place to stop for an hour. Not a lot there really, a big hotel, another river, some countryside and only a few people moving around; just right!

To end the trip very nicely, Hilary spotted this chap at the side of the road. It's a snipe, they usually remain well hidden but this one must have fancied some sunshine.

Nesting Time

Lots of birds nesting around our garden this year. Nearby cats have moved out and the birds have moved in.

We've watched them collecting nesting material and now they are collecting food. Looking forward to seeing some fledglings soon.

3D Printing Face Shield Parts For NHS

These headbands and chin reinforcements are a design by Prusa and accepted by the NHS. After printing they are sent off to Solid Print3D where they are sterilised, have the visor and  strap fitted then distributed to the NHS.

Wonder we didn't find an anaconda!

Well it was like as rain forest down there. We will never be bored with this isolation, there's so much to do that we must do, long before we get around to doing what we want to do.

38 years

Lovely sunny day on 38th wedding anniversary. Enjoying pre dinner drinks in the garden.

Unusual weather

Lovely hot weather with clear blue skies, blossom everywhere. We are allowed to go out once a day for exercise. On this occasion I only went to the letter box, all the same I was able to snap this blossom.

We are coping

Social distancing and self isolating started a week or so ago and was enforced by the government just a few days ago, on 23rd March. It's going to be hard but so far so good.

Pack horse bridges

AKA, Roman Bridges that cross Hockenhull Platts near Tarvin.

I visited there to take photos with my SLR because it was a sunny day but by the time I got there the sky was grey. I had to wait for an hour before the sun came out again.

Prior to this visit I last visited the bridges with Hilary in 1990,  when she was pregnant with Emma.

That wasn't the first time I'd been there though. When I was at Christleton Secondary Modern, the route over the bridges was a quick way of getting home on my bike, via Waverton & Tarvin at each end of Platts Lane.
